Mobile GPS navigation market doubles in EMEA
According to new research from Canalys, sustained growth in the mobile GPS navigation market has resulted in a quarterly record of 2.45 million devices being shipped to the EMEA region during the second quarter of 2006.
Market growth in the EMEA region was 96.6% year-on-year.
Although TomTom retained its market lead with a 30.5% share and a recorded growth of 189.2% in second quarter shipments, Garmin doubled its market share to 16.7%, shipping 298.6% more units that in the same period last year.
According to Canalys, average selling prices have remained steady around the €400 mark, despite increasing competition.
